
Sworn In is an exhibition themed for and coinciding with the 2009 U.S. Presidential Inauguration. This historically significant election will be represented by the work of visual and sound artists from across the country. Modeled after the art collection of the White House, the salon style installation will mimic the collected works
Guest curator Mancuso will renovate the arts venue using a variety of materials to resemble a parlor in the White House and flank the walls with the work of ten visual artists from around the country. An Opening Reception will be held for the group exhibit from 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM which will include entertainment from local musicians, DJs and filmmakers. Sworn In will run for one month and include a closing reception February 14, 2009 from 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM. All events are free and all ages are welcome. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 12:30 PM – 6:00 PM.

Spoon Popkin - an artist and musician working in Baltimore, MD and MICA alumna BFA ’90.
Ben Gersch - an artist working in Brooklyn, NY and MICA alumnus MFA ’01.
Jennifer Lee - an artist working on an MFA at RISD and CMU alumna BFA ’00.
David Miriello - an artist working in Braddock, PA.
Suzann Miriello - an artist working in Braddock, PA.
John Riegert – a local artist and CMU alumnus BFA ’92.
·Curator : Lauri Mancuso is a local artist, independent curator and CMU alumna BFA ‘91. She has directed and founded a variety of art and performance venues throughout the region including Garfield Artworks, Spinning Plates, Arrow Gallery, Paint &Body, ON and Dorothy 6. Mancuso is committed to offering artists of all medium an alternative platform to exhibit their work and maintains a unique dedication to emerging artists. Her newest location will open in Pittsburgh spring 2009.
